cDevonta Grogan will be an absolute steal in this 2020 class for a program when it’s all said & done. At Morgan City High, he is a standout in football, basketball, & track. But the football field is definitely his calling, and you can clearly see that when you watch Grogan play.
At 6-2 189 pounds, Grogan is a spectacular athlete that nobody is really talking about around the state. He has been “Mr. Do It All” for his team the last two years playing multiple positions at a high level. He is very dynamic with the ball in his hands & he is a touchdown waiting to happen. What makes Grogan so intriguing is that I see multiple schools recruiting him to play receiver & defensive back. When you turn his tape on you’ll see why.
Some wonder why a kid this talented is not getting heavily recruited. Could it be the school he’s at, could it be because he didn’t hit the camp circuit, or could it be because some of the college programs in the boot don’t pay attention to small areas like Morgan City? If he were at a school in New Orleans or Baton Rouge I think he would be on every school’s radar right now. Whatever the reason may be, Grogan is a diamond in the rough that in state schools better get familiar with sooner than later.
ULL & Nicholls State are monitoring Grogan at the moment, but I expect more in state schools to start showing heavy interest in him going forward.

I coached him in 2017, LSU was looking at him then, so I do not know why we are saying he is flying under the radar. If you can play, they will find you no matter what program or where you are located.

I loved the three years that i played with that kid, he is a bright spot in a dark part of Morgan City football's history.
