Tuesday's Spring game between Edna Karr & Destrehan was something to behold. With over 20 plus power five coaches in attendance, that was a clear indication that there would be a bevy of talent on display. Both programs look like they should be in the mix to get to the dome this upcoming season for sure. Some think it was a 5A state championship preview, but we'll see. Prospects That Impressed - Edna Karr 2023 DB Ryan Robinson - Robinson's stock rose after yesterday's performance. Already sitting at 20+ offers, he could be somebody LSU monitors very closely going forward. Destrehan 2024 WR Makylon Smothers - Smothers made a name for himself yesterday displaying he can high point the ball with his length. Smothers has no offers, but that should change soon enough. Edna Karr 2023 DE/LB Jonathan Bax - Bax was impressive as always. His athleticism was on full display yesterday & with him putting on 15 pounds of muscle, he was almost unblockable much of the day. Bax has 20+ offers Destrehan 2024 DE/LB Kolaj Cobbins - The first thing that jumped out yesterday was Cobbin's get off when the ball is snapped. Although, he still needs to fine tune some things he has all the tools to be the best edge rusher in the state for 2024. Cobbins has pulled in some big time power five offers during this spring evaluation period. Edna Karr 2024 LB Tah'J Butler - Butler showed yesterday that he can run sideline to sideline along with being physical. He made a play during the scrimmage where he hit the ball carrier so hard it sent many of the college coaches in a frenzy, particularly Alabama defensive coordinator Pete Golding. Has no offers yet, but his status too will change soon. Destrehan 2023 ATH Trey Nixon - Nixon showed that he can be very dynamic in space yesterday. His versatility being able to catch out the backfield & run the ball was impressive. Nixon could be a sleeper that gets some attention before signing day. Edna Karr 2025 WR Taron Francis - Francis showed that he is a grown man & he has a chance to be the next All-American to come out of Edna Karr if he continues to trend. Looks like he catches the ball natural & his run after catch is really good because he's so imposing. No offers YET! Destrehan 2024 ATH Anthony Robinson - Robinson has converted from receiver to defensive back & with good reason. Robinson was flying around & showing up on almost every play. With his speed & size he displayed that you can use him a number of ways on defense. He recently just picked up a few offers during the spring evaluation period. Destrehan 2023 DB Lynard Harris - Harris showed his versatility yesterday lining up at safety & nickel. He showed he has really good play recognition to go with great instincts. Harris currently holds 5 offers Destrehan 2023 DB Kevin Adams - Adams is another one that showed a lot of versatility lining up all over the field. His speed & tackling stood out the most yesterday. Adams is sitting at 12 offers Destrehan 2023 DB Cobi Green - Green showed good coverage skills & the physicality to come up to tackle in the run game. Green could be another sleeper in this 2023 class. Destrehan 2023 WR Daniel Blood - Blood showed he can make big plays against really good competition yesterday. He displayed his deep threat ability when he tracked the ball well & caught a 50 yard pass down the field. Blood is sitting at 11 offers Destrehan 2023 ATH Jai Eugene - Eugene was definitely one of the best athletes on the field yesterday. Many college coaches conversed about just how good Eugene would be if he played DB full-time, but too bad we won't get a chance to see it this season because if the Wildcats want any chance of winning the 5A state championship, they'll need him behind center. Eugene has 12 offers to play DB.
