On Saturday night during a visit a Louisiana Tech, Ellender High School 3-star receiver O’Ryan James committed to the Bulldogs.
At 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, the Bulldogs land a one of the most talented receivers in the state for the 2022 class. According to 247Sports, James is ranked 27th overall in the state & the No. 6 ranked receiver.
James chose Louisiana Tech after having offers from Virginia, Mississippi St, Tulane, Houston, Southeastern, Nicholls St, & Southern. He was also receiving a lot of interest from Louisville, Central Michigan, Arkansas St, Southern Miss & ULL. “Tech has been on me the hardest throughout my recruiting process,” James said. “Me and Coach Allen built a bond from the beginning when he offered me way back in January. I feel real comfortable with him and I love their offense because they get the ball to their receivers a whole lot. Being in Ruston on my visit with my family this past weekend really made me realize this is where I need to be.”
This is another big get for head coach Skip Holtz and his staff after landing Calvary Baptist quarterback Landry Lyddy last month. With all the success the Bulldogs have had winning bowl games and having a number of players drafted over the years, James is excited to be the next big time player there.
“Of course I remember Amik Robertson from my area having a great career at Tech & he ended up getting drafted,” James said. “Tech has players that get drafted every year and I feel like I’m going to be the next one to get my name called when that time comes. This program has had a lot of success for a minute and I can’t wait to be apart of it.”
The talented receiver out of Ellender High School expressed that he’s happy to keep the legacy going at his school and in his area.
“It feels good to know another kid out of Ellender is going play college football and get a free education,” he said. “I watched Tay Martin growing up playing receiver at my school and I knew I wanted to be the next one up after him. I just want the young ones coming up after me to keep the trend going because we’ve had a lot of kids sign scholarships over the years.” CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO CHECKOUT JAMES'S JUNIOR FILM |
