Terrace Marshall Jr. was a five-star prospect out of Parkway High School in Bossier, Louisiana. By the end of his senior year, he had over 25 offers, including blue-bloods such as Alabama, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Texas, Georgia, Florida, and Auburn. Now Marshall is preparing for the NFL draft & most mock drafts have him going from late first round to middle of the second. This pass season he finished with 48 receptions, 731 yards, & 10 touchdowns in only 7 games. Both teams came into the quarterfinals matchup as two of the most talented teams in the state regardless of class. Madison Prep the No. 3 seed & Booker T. Washington the #8 seed were both expected to be preseason favorites to get to the top 28 in Lake Charles. The Chargers came out fast leading 17-12 after the first with Jalen Williams hitting a timely three as time expired. Going into the half the Chargers extended their lead to 31-24. The Lions cut the lead to 39-34 going into the the fourth after a big quarter from Tyrese Johnson & Coryell Pierce, who combined for 11 points in the third. The Lions would give the Chargers all they could handle in the fourth, but the guard play from Savion Turner, Kavon Shannon, & Denziel Perkins was just too much. The Chargers would go on to win in a close one 54-52 to advance to the semifinals against Carroll in the Cajundome. Denziel Perkins led Madison Prep with 16 pts while Percy Daniels & Jalen Williams finished with 11 pts a piece. Tyrese Johnson led Booker T. The Patriots got off to a good start versus Edna Karr leading 15-12 after the first quarter with two big time dunks by Dionjahe Thomas that got the crowd into it early in “The House of Pain”. The Cougars would step it up in the second taking a 23-21 lead going into halftime. In the third, the Cougars extended their lead to 45-34 going into the fourth. Keith Jones & Shyves Johnson was critical to the Cougars run scoring 6 points a piece in the quarter. The Patriots went on a 13-4 run in the fourth to give them their first lead since the second quarter 51-49 with 3:31 left after two free throws by Dionjahe Thomas. Thomas scored 16 of his game high 31 points in the fourth quarter to help the Patriots pull out a nail biter 57-53. Dionjahe Thomas led all scorers with 31 points, 16 rebounds, & 4 blocks. And O’Ryan James finished with 7 points for the Patriots. Leland Smith led the Cougars with 13 points. The Patriots will travel to Shreveport on Friday to take the #3 seed Woodlawn-Shreveport with a chance to advance to the Semifinals in Lake Charles.
