The Carver Rams (20-2) overall & ranked No. 1 in 4A haven't lost to an in state team since December 11 which was against Edna Karr. Since that loss, the Rams are on a 12-game win streak. And with the playoffs only a few weeks away, there's no better time to get hot. On this past Saturday, the Rams hosted the Carver Classic that included 5 showcase games where they faced off against Madison Prep for the last game of the day. The Rams started fast going up 11-3 with 4:33 left in the first. Texas A&M signee Solomon Washington scored 9 of his 14 points during this stretch that would extend the lead to eleven up 28-17 at the half. Madison Prep started the third quarter with an 8-0 run after Perry Daniels scored a driving layup followed by a hook shot, cutting the deficit to 32-25. The Rams took it up another notch defensively & Dorian Finister threw down a alley-hoop that helped spark his team to a 14-2 run putting them 46-30 at the end of the third. The Chargers would not quit though by cutting the lead to 51-41 with 4:47 left in the game. Sophomore guard Josh Smith scored 5 of his 11 points during the 8-0 run for Madison Prep, but the Rams continued to stay aggressive when Willie Anderson caught an alley-hoop behind his head & converted. The Rams went on to win the game 61-54. Dorian Finister led all scorers with 21 points & Solomon Washington finished with 14 points for Carver. Dylan Dominique led Madison Prep with 17 points.
