The No. 1 receiver from the boot according to 247Sports is close to narrowing his college decision after dropping his top 7 schools via Twitter last week.
The St. James High School product is currently ranked the No. 4 overall prospect in Louisiana, the No. 10 receiver nationally and a top 75 overall recruit in the 2022 class according to 247Sports. Many think that LSU is the heavy favorite to land the 4-star’s commitment, but Preston expressed that he is still very open at this point. “I still need to visit some of the schools on my list that I never been to,” Preston said. “I have already made plans to visit Texas & USC for sure. I really like what those two schools have to offer. I already have a good relationship with Jeff Martin (Director of scouting) over at USC, so I’m excited to get up there.”
Preston has accomplished a lot in his three years at St. James with winning a state championship, being named a Under Armour All-American, & being ranked the No. 1 receiver in the state. But making a decision on what school he wants to attend will be a challenge for Preston & his family.
His brother Shawn Preston is currently a defensive back on Mississippi State’s roster. “Me & my dad went through this process with my older brother a few years ago, so I think that will help a lot this time around with me,” Preston said. “My dad has always been big on having real relationships with a school. Of course I want to play somewhere I can get the ball a lot, but I also want to be at a place that I know can make me a better person too.”
The 6-foot-, 190-pound receiver has some of the best ball skills in this 2022 class. His ability to come down with contested catches consistently is elite & will bold well for him on the next level.
