Late Wednesday evening, Hahnville head football coach Nick Saltaformoggio was notified that his new transfer quarterback Andrew Robison will not be suiting up for him this season according to multiple sources. The ruling comes in the day before Hahnville was set to host their jamboree versus Jesuit, how fitting. Coach Salt has been suspended 4 games & the school has been fined for what is said to be for recruiting violations. Robison starred at Vandebilt Catholic the last 3 seasons, but when his father Drew Robison was not retained at the school they were forced to make other plans. Drew Robison was the offensive coordinator & head basketball coach at Vandebilt Catholic during his son’s tenure there. The reasoning behind the school not retaining Robison is undisclosed. Sources close to the situation says that Robison & his family made a legit move to the Hahnville area, which makes this case very puzzling. LHSAA has ruled Robison ineligible for his senior year because they believe he was recruited to Hahnville for athletic purposes, which is a violation. It remains to be seen if the LHSAA has legitimate proof that Robison was recruited to come there, but in years past we’ve seen a bevy of kids get the short end of the stick just off of speculation. Hahnville was looking like they were going to have a legitimate shot to get back to the dome with the roster they had returning. And with a stud quarterback like Andrew Robison at the helm it’s no doubt the Tigers were going to be 1 of the better teams in 5A. All & all another kid suffers from a ruling that the LHSAA comes down with a day before the jamboree. The ruling will affect Robison & his family tremendously, but the timing of it all puts the Hahnville football program behind the eight ball with the first game of the regular season just a little over a week away. If Robison had not transferred to a prominent program such as Hahnville, you have to wonder would this ruling have ever came down. Some close to the situation believe Robison could return to Vandebilt Catholic, but that has not yet been confirmed.
