Karr took an early lead when senior running back Jawin Newman scored on a 3-yard run to go up 7-0 in the first quarter. Scotlandville put up a fight. After a 31 yard field goal by Nick Montgomery and a 17-yard touchdown pass from Zae Teasett to Chance Williams, the Hornets had a 10-7 lead with 4:02 left in the second quarter. Karr only led 14-10 the half. However, LSU commit Aaron Anderson who scored on a 17-yard reverse in the game and the Cougars would continue to put their foot on the gas. The Cougars led 28-17 in the third quarter because of touchdown runs from senior quarterback A.J Samuel (1) & Jawin Newman (2). The Cougars would prevail & go on to defeat the Hornets 48-33. Karr running back Jawin Newman finished with 97 yards rushing & 3 touchdowns. The Hornets Scotlandville junior quarterback C'Zavian Teasett was very impressive finishing the game with 329 yards passing, 4 touchdowns & 0 INTs. “We knew coming into the game that they had some really good players,” Karr head coach Brice Brown said. “Our special teams played a huge role into why we were able to pull away from them.” “Watching film on Teasett we knew that he was a good quarterback, but after seeing him in person he looked even better.
