The first half versus South Terrebonne both teams started off going back & fourth with four lead changes. The Patriots defensive intensity would turn up the last two minutes of the second quarter that led to a 6-0 run putting them up 26-20 at the half. Sophomore Dionjahe Thomas would make his presence felt big time in the third quarter scoring nine straight points for the Patriots. The Patriots’ full court zone press would give the Gators problems that led to several turnovers which converted into transition points. Ellender would go into the fourth quarter up 45-29. The fourth quarter the Patriots kept their foot on the gas extending their lead to 51-31 after a big one-handed dunk by Thomas. The Patriots would go on to win the game 58-41 to improve to (11-13 overall & 4-1 in district). The Gators fell to (15-8) overall & 2-3 in district). Dionjahe Thomas led all scorers with 24 points for the Patriots & Nykee Johnson added 10 points. Christian Arceneaux led South Terrebonne with 13 points & R.J Cox added 12 points. Ellender is currently ranked 24 in 4A & South Terrebonne sits at 19. The Patriots didn’t have a let down on Friday night at home versus Morgan City as they took care of business with a 65-45 win. Sophomore Dionjahe Thomas led all scorers with 27 points & 12 rebounds. They will be back in action on the road Tuesday night versus Vandebilt Catholic.
