The Mustangs knew coming into this game that it would be a tall task, but head coach Steven Kelly was ready for the challenge.
The Rams struggled in the first half scoring but only trailed 28-19 going into halftime.
Sophomore Solomon Washington would jump start the Rams in the third with a steal & big time dunk. Washington would score 6 of his 18 points in the third & helped his team cut the lead down to 41-38. Sophomore Alex Hammond would knock down a three as time expired to tie the game at 41 going into the fourth for the Mustangs.
With 1:56 left in the fourth Hammond would go the length of the floor & finish the lay in to give the Mustangs a 55-51 lead. Washington would answer right back for the Rams to cut the lead to 55-53 with 1:13 left in the game. The Mustangs would knock down two free throws to & make it 57-53 with under a minute left to play.
Sophomore Dorian Finister would hit a big three for the Rams to cut it to 57-56 with 27 seconds left to play. Senior Tahj Gilyot would make the play of the game with a huge block for the Mustangs & would ultimately give his team the win.
Tahj Gilyot & Alex Hammond led the Mustangs with 11 points a piece.
Solomon Washington led all scorers with 18 points for Carver & Dorian Finister finished with 16 points.
The Mustangs would lose a tough one on the road to Port Allen on Saturday 65-58. They have a record of 13-11 on the season.
