Over the last few years Terrebonne High School has had a ton of kids sign football scholarships. Most notable are Five-star DT Maason Smith (LSU) & Four-star ATH Ja’Khi Douglas (Florida St).
With Jaylin Lucas & Kadan Lewis announcing their commitments to Tulane, this continues the trend of talented prospects coming out of Terrebonne High School. 3-star Jaylin Lucas has been a hot commodity this summer because of his dominating camp performances. A video from the Mississippi St camp had over 100k views within three days, that had his name buzzing amongst a bevy of college programs. It resulted in Lucas picking up nine offers in two days. “I’ve been looking forward to this since I came in as a freshman,” Lucas said. “Seeing my brother (Ja’Khi Douglas) go through this process when I was young helped me a lot. I watched how he use to workout all the time, go to camps and put on a show. I knew that I was going to do the same when my time came.”
The 5-foot-7, 175-pound Lucas holds 30 offers & took official visits to Indiana University & the University of Louisville before making his decision to commit to Tulane.
“Coach Fobbs played a big part into me committing to Tulane,” Lucas said. “He did a good job of showing me how they plan to use me on offense & I think it will be a good fit for me. Also getting a degree from Tulane is a big deal and I like the fact that my family won’t have to travel far to come see me play either.”
Kadan Lewis announced his commitment to Tulane two days after Lucas, giving the Green Wave their first Louisiana commits for the 2022 class.
“Tulane was on me very hard ever since they offered me way back in February,” Lewis said. “Coach Dawson & the whole staff showed me that I was priority to them for this class. They made me feel like I could be a dominant player here and have an opportunity to get drafted. Me and Jaylin didn’t know it would play out like this, but I’m glad it did because he’s like my brother.”
The 6-foot-1, 270 pound Lewis currently holds 14 offers. He just recently took an official visit to the University of Memphis & an unofficial to the University of Louisiana Rajun’ Cajuns.
Tulane is getting two diamond in the rough prospects from the state, which they have not been known to get many kids of Lewis & Lucas’s caliber under Willie Fritz’s watch the last five years. But, the job is not done yet for the Green Wave staff though. Don’t be surprised when both (Lucas and Lewis) have monster senior years and Tulane is having to fight off other top tier programs before signing day. Madison Prep quarterback Zeon Chriss gave his pledge to the Ragun’ Cajuns on last week via twitter.
“I knew UL was where I wanted to be & I wanted to get it over with so I can focus on my senior year,” Chriss said. “Coach Napier is one of the best coaches in the country & we built a real connection.” Numbers don’t lie when it comes to Chriss, who has been arguably the most productive in the state over the last two seasons. He’s accounted for over 90 touchdowns (throwing & running) to go with over four thousand yards passing his sophomore & junior year combined. Oh and by the way Chriss led his team to win the 3A state championship along with be awarded Most Outstanding Player of the game.
The 6-foot-1 and a half dual-threat prospect development over the last two years has been very impressive, which is why the Rajun’ Cajuns made it a point to get him apart of their cULture.
“A lot of coaches helped me develop along the way, but my dad made me tough & showed me how to be a leader,” Chriss said. “I know Coach Napier is one of the best at developing quarterbacks & we think the same in a lot of different ways. Their system fits me perfectly and I know I can excel in that offense.” Chriss had offers from Memphis, Tulane, San Diego St, Miami-Ohio, South Alabama, Arkansas St, Appalachian St, McNeese St, ULM, Army, Air Force, & Southern.
