Tommy Minton is going into his second year as Vandebilt Catholic's head football coach after leading the Terriers all the way to the semifinals in year one. Minton expressed he's very anxious to get the season underway because of a really good offseason & he has so many key pieces that's returning from last year's team. "I like where we're at today, but of course I'm trying to make sure we're doing all the little things right," Minton said. "We have some really good talent on both sides of the ball & up front we have some guys that will definitely play D-1 football. And having a special talent like Jaylon Coleman in the backfield makes my job a little bit easier." Here are some prospects for the Terriers to keep an eye on this upcoming season. (Soph.) RB Jaylon Coleman returns after a spectacular freshman campaign of 1,105 yards rushing & 17 touchdowns. He earned himself 1st team all-state honors & district 8-4A MVP. Coleman also was phenomenal on that track as well placing second at the state meet with a time of 10.40 in the 100 meter dash. Expectations are high for Coleman this season & I see no reason why he won't cement himself as one of the best running backs in the state regardless of class. He currently holds offers from Texas A&M, Mississippi St, Florida Atlantic, & Southern. (Jr.) TE Teddy Gawlik is somebody to definitely pay attention to this upcoming season. At 6-foot-2, 200 pounds Gawlik moves really well & he has the physicality that will cause a lot of matchup problems. He should have a big year & garner some attention from schools at season's end. (Sr.) LB Jacob Fairchild is the quarterback of the defense no doubt about it. His ability to be physical, blitz, & run sideline to sideline makes him someone offensive coordinators will have to identify at all times. (Sr.) DB Mason Ayo brings a lot of athleticism to this Terriers secondary. The coaches have been having high praises for Ayo & he has all the traits to put it all together in his senior year. (Jr.) OL Carson Doiron was an all-district performer last year as a sophomore & he adds to an already good offensive line for the Terriers this season. (Sr.) DB William King has a ton of experience so he's the veteran in the secondary & his instincts along with his IQ will put him position to make a lot of plays this season. (Jr.) OL Landon Thibodaux returns after earning an all-district selection last year. He should have an even better output this season & make this group one of the more formidable offensive lines in 4A. (Fresh.) OL Alex Hernandez is another young pup that the Terriers coaching staff are high on. He possesses the physical traits that you look for especially for his age. After Hernandez puts out some film this season he could start seeing some interests from schools as well. Other notable names to lookout for are (Sr.) DB Jackson Parfait, (Sr.) WR Alexander Castell, (Soph.) RB Robert Sandolph.
