The Kennedy Cougars & Terrebonne Tigers both came into their week two matchup 1-0. Both teams were pretty much evenly matched, which was why the game came down to the finals seconds.
Kicker Nahun Lalin connected on a 31 yard field early in the first quarter to give the Cougars a 3-0 lead. The Tigers would respond when Kyrin Robinson hit Jayce Johnson on a screen & Johnson took it 63 yards for a touchdown to give his team a 7-3 lead late in the second quarter.
Cougars quarterback Christopher Armstrong scrambled around & hit Trellis Williams on a 18 yard touchdown pass to retake the lead 9-7 with 3:21 left in the second quarter. Extra point was missed & the score would remain going into halftime.
Junior running back Jayce Johnson would score his second touchdown of the night on a 24 yard run but the extra point was missed. The Tigers led 13-9 with 6:51 left in the third quarter. Armstrong would come right back & hit James Evans on a 18 yard touchdown pass to put the Cougars back up 16-13 with 4:57 left in the third quarter.
With just over a minute left in the game, the Tigers defense got a fourth down stop on the goal line. They would have to go 99 yards to either tie or take the lead. The Cougars would give up a couple first downs, but senior defensive end Deshaun Batiste came up with a big sack that ran much of the time off the clock. The Tigers ended the game on a completion inside the red zone, but time expired.
