Karr has won the last nine meetings, four of them in the postseason, including the Class 4A state semifinal round last season. In front of close to 10,000 in attendance & a bevy of college coaches, Karr was able to do what they always seem to do when their back is to the wall. And that’s find a way to win. With less than two minutes to go in the game, Karr quarterback A.J Samuel did the unexpected on a fourth down and one by throwing a 35-yard contested pass to senior Yarun McMath *McNeese St commit* to the Easton 1-yard line. Two plays later, Samuel avoided two would be tacklers to get into the end zone for the go-ahead touchdown with only 32 seconds left in the game. Pictures by Channel 91 “I knew they would be keying on Aaron Anderson, so I felt good about going backside to my other senior receiver,” head coach Brice Brown said. Samuel connected with Aaron Anderson on the first play from scrimmage for a 65-yard touchdown for an early 7-0 Cougars lead. Senior quarterback Keddrick Connelly connected with Leon Ellioe for a 47-yard touchdown. Easton’s two-point conversion attempt failed leaving Karr up 7-6. Warren Easton would strike again when running back Jay Gordon scores on a 6-yard touchdown run to give Easton a 12-7 lead. Gordon would score again from 3 yards out to give the Eagles a 18-7 lead right before the half. Pictures by Channel 91 In the second half, the Cougars defense looked totally different led by junior defensive end Jonathan Bax. Bax finished the game with 4.5 sacks & 3 TFLs which helped the Cougars defense keep the Eagles scoreless the whole second half. To checkout full highlights & interviews, click the link below!!
