The H.L Bourgeois Braves & Ellender Patriots came into their week three game 0-2, which made this matchup very pivotal for both programs the rest of the season. The Braves struck first when Gavin Vordick hit Drake Dubois on a 38 yard touchdown pass to take a 6-0 lead early in the first. The Patriots responded with Xaviah Bryant capping off their drive with a 6 yard touchdown run to go up 7-6 with 3:05 left in the first. Quan Harris gave the Braves some momentum after he picked off a pass, which led to Vordick throwing his second touchdown of the night to Jacoby Harris that put them back up 14-7 in the second quarter. Bryant would score another touchdown for the Patriots on a 5 yard run to tie the game at 14 with 5:54 left in the second. The turning point of the game came when Quan Harris scored on a 17 yard run off of a speed sweep with 14 seconds left before halftime for the Braves to go up 20-14. The final score of the game came when Vordick scored on a 12 yard keeper to extend the Braves lead to 26-14 with 6:23 left in the fourth quarter. La'Qaun Johnson would cap the game off for the Braves with an interception with less than a minute in the game. The Braves move to 1-2 & will take on another rival this Friday versus Terrebonne (1-2). Ellender falls to 0-3 & will start district play versus Morgan City (1-2).
