The Ellender Patriots came out victorious versus their rival South Terrebonne Gators 26-9 for the second year in a row. Both teams were scoreless in the first quarter & then Peyton Martin finally got the Gators on board with 25 yard field goal to go up 3-0 with 5:23 left in the second quarter. The Patriots finally got their offense going when Kade Adkins hit Michael Crawford for a 43 yard touchdown pass to take a 7-3 lead with 3:30 left in the second quarter. A critical moment in the game was when Royal Williams scored on a 5 yard run on fourth down with only 5 seconds left before halftime that put the Patriots up 13-3. Royal Williams would score his second touchdown of the game when Kade Adkins hit him on a 5 yard slant to give the Patriots a 20-3 lead with 1:25 left in the third quarter. Defensive lineman Makai Gautreaux put the nail in the coffin when he picked off a screen pass & took it 21 yards for a touchdown to give the Patriots a commanding 26-3 lead with 7:27 left in the game. Javon Ricks would score on a 6 yard run for the Gators to cut the lead to 26-9, but it would be too late for his team to mount a comeback.
