East Ascension handed Thibodaux High their first loss on the season with a convincing 35-0 win on the road. The Spartans were very impressive on both sides of the ball all night. The offensive & defensive line of the Spartans was the difference in the game holding a high powered Thibodaux offense to just 169 yards of total offense, while the Spartans accumulated over 300 yards of offense on the night. The fifth ranked team for class 5A showed their balance being able to run & throw the ball effectively all night long against the Tigers. East Ascension quarterback Jason Wakefield was very efficient on the night completing 10 of 15 of his passes for 174 yards & a touchdown. Wide receiver Steven McBride showed his big play capabilities scoring on a 18 yard run & again on a 31 yard touchdown catch that was called back because of a holding penalty. But the difference in the game was the rushing attack that was led by Evan Copeland. The senior running back rushed for 118 yards that included a 41 yard touchdown run on the night. East Ascension now improves to 3-0 on the season & will host Cecilia on Friday night for their homecoming. Thibodaux falls to 2-1 & will host H.L Bourgeois.
