One of the best high school football rivalries in the state did not disappoint once again this year. Destrehan came into the game as the favorite, but Hahnville gave the Wildcats all they could handle on Friday night in front of a packed crowd. Destrehan started the game off strong going up 14-0 with touchdown passes from Harold Blood Jr. to John Emery on a 54 yard screen pass & a 30 yard pass to Carson Rieder. Hahnville stormed back & scored 15 unanswered points to give the Tigers a 15-14 lead in the third quarter after a 6 yard touchdown run by Jace Meyers. Destrehan quarterback Harold Blood Jr. would come up big by connecting with *Mississippi St. commit* Quinton Torbor for a 36 yard touchdown pass to put the Wildcats back up 20-15 after the failed two point conversion. Destrehan cornerback Dontrell Smith *Southeastern commit* played a vital role in the game coming up with two key interceptions & a fumble recovery to help the Wildcats hold on to win the game 28-15. John Emery *Georgia commit* was box office as usual for the Wildcats finishing the game with 182 all-purpose yards & 2 touchdowns. Emery was named MVP of the game & credited his offensive line for his stellar performance.
